Çardak Bath

Built upon therapeutic hot spring water which has been used since the Roman period, Çardak Bath is a Seljuk construction.

It has two octagonal sections with two separate domes, one for men and one for women. The bath is located in the Hamamkarahisar neighborhood, before the crossroad leading to villages of Dutlu and Kadıncık, at the right after the historic bridge and North of Hamamkarahisar Mosque.

The water of the bath comes from a single source on a slightly sloping hillside. The temperature of the water is 35 ˚C and the flow rate is 45 l/sec. The hot spring water contains Bicarbonate, Calcium, Sodium and Bromide, and has a radioactive composition. The water is suitable for bathing and drinking cures. Two baths with historic significance in the thermal facility have two 6×6 m pools with a depth of 1.5m, one for men and one for women. It has therapeutic properties for rheumatic, kidney, urinary tract and metabolic disorders and is useful in the excitation of the nervous system.

Although the building is out of order today, the Sivrihisar Municipality started restorations works under the leadership of Mayor Hamid Yüzügüllü and the building survey, the restitution plan and the defect and intervention plan were completed. Çardak Bath will be opened for use by restoring all its functionalities without disturbing its unique architectural properties.
